AO Racing is taking Rexy’s world overseas once again, and this time, the fan-favorite dinosaur Porsche is getting a legendary Japanese twist.
For the 50th Anniversary Suzuka 1000km, AO Racing has partnered with Absolute Racing and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific to field the No. 8 Porsche 911 GT3 R at Suzuka Circuit on September 11–13, 2026. The entry will also mark AO Racing’s first-ever appearance in the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
Making his debut in Japan will be Bushi Rex, a samurai-inspired new character in the AO Racing universe. According to the team’s story, Rexy discovered during his 2023 trip to Japan for the FIA WEC round that his family history traces back to the legendary Rex Family Samurai Clan, with Bushi Rex standing as one of its greatest warriors.

Behind the wheel, AO Racing and Absolute Racing have assembled a powerful Porsche lineup. The No. 8 Porsche will be driven by Julien Andlauer, Alessio Picariello, and Laurin Heinrich, who won the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD PRO title with AO Racing.

AO Racing Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette said the team is excited to partner with Absolute Racing and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for the Suzuka 1000km, adding that the team believes it has the pieces in place to fight near the front.
“AO is excited to partner with Absolute Racing and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for the Suzuka 1000km,” said Jeannette. “With a stellar driver lineup and an amazing new character, we are very much looking forward to putting on a show, especially for our Japanese fans. This will be our first foray into the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and we believe we have all the pieces in place to fight at the front.”

Fans at Suzuka will also be able to purchase exclusive Bushi Rex merchandise during race weekend, with apparel and collectibles set to arrive through AO Racing’s online store closer to the event via the team’s website, AO Racing
From IMSA fan favorite to international samurai warrior, Rexy’s story is heading to one of Japan’s most iconic circuits.
