Inter Europol Competition gets its first win of the season in dominant fashion, winning from pole in the IMSA Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), giving a major boost in their title fight. Tom Dillmann and Jeremy Clarke controlled from the lead, redeeming themselves after a late crash from the lead in last year’s running of this race. This marks their second win around CTMP, their first being in 2024.
No. 04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR came home in second, 9.796 seconds adrift of the Inter Europol car. Qualifying fourth, George Kurt and Alex Quinn gambled by not pitting during the only safety car of the day to gain track position, but were unable to keep up on race pace with Inter Europol. This is the first time Crowdstrike Racing has ever had back-to-back podium finishes since Indianapolis and Atlanta in 2023.
Rounding out the podium was the No. 99 AO Racing. Being sent to the back of the LMP2 grid due to a technical infringement in qualifying, P.J Hyett and Dame Cameron were able to work their way up through the pack, getting the second fastest lap of the race while making tight overtakes on key rivals, making it an overall successful recovery drive.
Bryan Herta/PR1 Mathiasen was hoping for a great result this weekend with incoming Cadillac GTP Driver Ricky Taylor joining Misha Goikhberg, as it was looking to be so with a front row start. However, while still in second under safety car conditions, Goikhberg suddenly lost the car out of Turn 9, dropping them down to seventh. Short pitting during the green flag stops and solid race pace allowed the pair to recover back up to fourth, another solid recovery in the lmp2 class.
Most of the Incidents were in LMP2, as the first full-course caution of the day was caused by Tower Motorsports and Canadian John Farano, understeering wide in the middle of Quebec Corner (Turn 3). The only DNF today was from TDS Motorsports, who slammed into the outside wall at the fast and challenging Turn 8. Around 45 minutes later, a similar incident occurred with United Autosports and Mikkel Jensen, but he was luckily able to get the car reversed and out of the tire barrier. After repairs, they finished 10 laps down and 7th in class.

Vasser Sullivan Pitstop Masterclass
Jack Hawksworth, Ben Barnicoat and Vasser Sullivan Racing go back-to-back for the first time ever in GTD Pro, continuing their hot streak from Watkins Glen. Qualifying 5th, the Lexus crew worked up to 3rd before the TDS Motorsports LMP2 brought out the second full-course yellow of the day. With nearly the entire GTD Pro field pitting, Vasser Sullivan blitzed the pit times, being one of the only teams not to do a driver swap, to jump into the lead. They were able to pull a massive gap and hold on with the strategy to win for the first time at CTMP.
Another car who benefited from the second full course yellow was AO Racing in the No.77 Porsche, equaling their best result of 2nd at Sebring. Fighting in the mid-pack through positions fifth down to eighth, Rexy shot up to third in the pit lane and never looked back. Though practice and qualifying times didn’t suggest much pace out of the Porsche this weekend, Harry King and Nick Tandy were enabled that strategy and hold on to that second place.
Coming home in the final podium spot in GTD Pro was the No.1 Paul Miller Racing BMW. Dominant in practice and qualifying, it was looking to be a comfortable showcase for the championship leaders, but due to the timing of that second full course yellow, they turned out to be the biggest losers in the cycle, dropping from first down to fourth. With track position being so pivotal and the pace just not fast enough to match, Neil Verhagen and Connor De Phillippi were able to settle for third.

Winward’s unlucky streak is broken
After their Rolex 24 victory, Russell Ward, Philip Ellis, and Winward Racing struggled to find the clean races needed to defend their 2025 title. Incidents at Sebring, Laguna Seca, and Long Beach repeatedly knocked the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3 out of contention. But at Mosport, with two full-course yellows falling their way, the team finally had some much-needed luck on its side.
Winward Racing returned to victory lane at CTMP for the first time since 2024, as Ward and Ellis guided the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to the win. The result puts them firmly back in the fight for a third consecutive GTD championship.

Back-to-Back GTD Podiums for Vasser Sullivan, and First for Turner Motorsport!
Vasser Sullivan also had plenty to celebrate. Alongside its GTD PRO victory, the No. 12 Lexus RC F GT3 of Aaron Telitz and Benjamin Pedersen finished second in GTD for the second straight year at CTMP.
Completing the podium was Turner Motorsport, marking the first CTMP WeatherTech Series podium for Will Turner’s team and the No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.
